The three musketeers! ch. 1-6

Chapters 1-4 in "The Three Musketeers"begins by talking about a young man named Gascon, d'Artagnan. He is leaving his home to make a great life in Paris(he always wanted to be a musketeer). His father gives him a few gifts before he leaves, an old yellow horse, fifteen crowns, and a letter to the head of the kings Musketeers (bodyguards) M. de Treville. On d'Artagnan's way to Paris he stops in Meung where he gets into a fight with another man because of his hot-headedness. The man takes d'Artagnan's letter, but he still goes to find the musketeers.

When he gets to de Traville's house he meets the three musketeers Aramis, Porthos, and later on he meets Athos. They all have very distinct characters.
*Aramis is the more shy one who is floppish.
*Porthos is the most outgoing, loud musketeer.
*Athos is very dramatic and handsome. He is also the oldest musketeer.
d'Artagnan has an interview with de treville where and explains how he lost the letter and impresses de treville when he asks him about the cardinal, but before de treville can decide anything d'Artagnan spots the man who stole his letter in Meung and leaves the house.

He does not catch up with the man because he gets stopped by Athos. d'artagnan gets in a fight with the three musketeers because he blows up so easily, but there fight gets turned around and they all wind up fighitng the Cardinal (man against the kings queen). King Louis Xii is very impressed by the four men and asks to meet them. He is very impressed by their loyalty(especially d'Artagnan) and gives them a large sum of money . That it how these chapters ended.

My Reaction:
I am not sure what to think about the book so far. I think that d'Artagnan is a hot tempered person and don't see how he can be a hero. I find the story dragging quite a bit, but I hope it gets better. I think the first chapters make it clear what the problem is in the story. It is a rivalry between King Louis Xiii and the Cardinal(the cardinal hates the queen and knows she is cheeting). I think The musketeers are quite immiture (including d'Artagnan). d'Artagnan is quite irritating to me bccause he never takes time think about things before he acts. It made me really mad when he sold his fathers horse:[
